Shielding techniques

LeXtruX:
I'm no real expert on shielding, I don't know shields as powerfull as some other members know, but I do have some experience with them.

Ok, here we go: so you want to learn to shield yourself? Here are some simple tips and tricks and some techniques that you might start with:
Note: you need to know how to use Chakra before doing this, you can find various sites to learn and control chakra

Bubble Shield: The easiest of shields, this is what you've got to do: invision yourself in a bubble, usually the "caster" can't see the bubble, but it'll usually be there. These are basic shields which protect you from a variety of opponents.

Repel Shield: This is, by my knowledge, a technique I made to protect myself from unwanted visitors. It's like you impose other beings and scare them off, it's not really a shield but more like a scarecrow. You make one by invisioning yourself as a powerfull being immeting a terrifying aura, this works for me, it is tricky but it should work after some tries.

Wave shields: these are self-explanatory, they come in waves, this is a bit more advanced than a bubble, but what you do is send off waves of energy pushing away incomming opponents.

These are the basic ones I know, feel free to add others.

For a more advanced shield look into the topic Rapture Shield or ask older members for their techniques. I know a few but not all ;)

ravinclaw:
Think she refers to the act of growing ones own aura into a shield, golden or goldish white in couler taking an oval or egg like shape.

Anaya:
To be honest, I have a hard time shielding with my aura. I normally have to really focus and put them up.

For me, I have to imagine walls being built around me in multiple layers; like brick, then iron, then steel, then diamond. Other times, I have to take whatever is attacking/bothering me, and use it's energy as a 'cloak' to keep things away from me. By doing this, it's like water attacking water: basically useless. The last one (I call it Harale), I gather up all my emotions, and push those into a kind of mental barrier (I usually focus on sorrow for it works best for me). Any spirit that attempts to enter it is normally greeted with all the pain that I build up. This last one is normally done if I plan to lure something into a trap and don't want anything to join me. The first two require me to focus to keep it up while the last is usually fine on it's own. Normally, it stays standing until something sets it off. The down side is it works like a landmine: one good boom before it's done. Multiple can be made at a time, but it will place the user in dangerous state of mental break down. I know that from experiences.
