Pit and the Pendulum / 1961

Francis Barnard goes to Spain when he hears his sister Elizabeth has died

Her husband Nicholas who is the son of a notoriously barbaric inquisitor tells him she has died of a blood disease, but Francis is unconvinced by his story and is determined to discover the truth.

After investigating he finds out that it was extreme fear and that she may have been buried alive

Strange things then start to happen in the Medina castle

This type of movie just lets me know that you don't need a lot of blood and guts to be good

Vincent Price as Nicholas
John Kerr as Francis
Barbara Steele as Elizabeth
What do you want, you moon-faced assassin of joy?

We walk in the dark places no others will enter. We stand on the bridge and no-one may pass. We live for the One, we die for the One

I believe Price did a number of movies based on Poe stories.  This one was excellent.  Hopefully they will air it during this October.

I also thought Price was great in House on Haunted Hill.
