Title: if the world was destroyed...
Post by: jordyn on August 02, 2010, 02:30:23 PM
what would happen to all the ghosts and spirits?  i'm not being flippant and it was actually my mom who initially asked me the question...i'm really not sure.

Assuming they exist? Nothing would 'happen' tp them as they exist on a totally different and not at all understood level from ours. This is of course based on the assumption that the effect of the total annihilation of Earth would not be transmissible beyond our current plane of reality.

I actually understood what Moloch meant without reading it multiple times. That makes me feel a little special. I agree with him here.

Now I do believe spirits exist but they live in a different level then ours (as Moloch stated). Spirits live throughout the universe and one planet will not make the universe. There are multiple planets and the probability of life on other planets is high. Since there is life on this one why not others? My point is that the universe will live on if this world dies.
Now the spirits will not be affected by a physical explosion. It will go through them (like how ghosts go through us, physical stuff goes through them but does not hurt them) This is because they are on this higher level of existence. They will be unharmed and probably go somewhere else.

I just rephrased what Moloch said in easier terms.

Don't go feeling too special, Matthew. Jordyn just simply does not make a nuisance of herself; at least until she wanders into certain topics of discussion. For that reason, and one or two other personal ones I know about from when I first joined, I see no reason to inflict any more confusion on her than necessary. Most of the kids here, however, draw my ire and hence must suffer my sadistic wrath.

This being the case, and the rules here being what they are, the tried and true method for getting satisfaction is pointing out, subtly of course, that my opponent is hopelessly lackadaisical when it comes to intellect.

You have, however, Matthew, earned a bit of my respect. If nothing else, you are tenacious, and refuse to simply give up and take the easy road, and pursue an understanding of my words, despite the difficulty; an uncommon trait these days.

Though I must say shame on you for making things easier on the plebeians here.

Well I do appreciate compliments for traits people constantly fail to undervalue.

I do understand what you are saying here too. I shouldn't of made it so easy. Now the "plebeians" are going to interpret my explanation more because it is easier. While yours being shorter and more difficult would of made them think about it more. I have denied them their privilege to form their own view and instead I fed them mine. What you are really getting at is that I am becoming a voice for these followers and they are listening instead of speaking. I am denying them the right to learn and the ability to form an opinion.

So for that I am sorry, however that does not mean I will not stand by what I said. Even if I am wrong I am not backing down on anything I say.

I will try to not simplify things so much in the future unless I feel it necessary, and thank you for reminding me of this.

generally that would be a pretty reasonable answer, i suppose it comes down to what one believes they are?  :P

what if they are indeed human manifestations? no humans...no manifestations.

what would they do if the world survived and only the plants and animals were left?

it'd so suck...

I think somehow the two worlds are connected, afterall ghosts are dead people, right?, so if the world is destroyed, we're destroyed. Thus we become ghosts... the effect of the other side would probably be huge. Not physically but in a flooding of another 6.5 billion people.

I think it depends upon how you define "ghost" and "spirit". If you think of "ghost", then you think of dead humans. There's a pretty good chance that they would be effected by the earth and all that inhabit it ceasing to exist, whether it was just a bit of sadness at seeing the place they once lived destroyed, or a massive increase in population due to all the newly deceased people. Now "spirits", on the other hand, wouldn't necessarily be human. So, they might not be affected at all.

Oh, and Moloch? If the rest of us are plebeians, does that make you a patrician?

.

Starting on the wrong foot early, eh Bracken?

Firstly, if the shoe fits, wear it sugarfoot.

Second, look up the definition for plebeian.

Third, I am what I am. If you have a problem with that, leave.
