Anyone ever see this great vampire film? It's one of my all time favorites, and it is scary, with the silent oldness of the movie. Max Schreck is great as Count Orlok.

I have seen this classic a number of times, but the best was last year at a large venue in England,it was the restored version and had organ accompaniment,on the big screen as it is meant to be seen!Max Von Schreck is the ultimate Vampire, see 'Shadow Of The Vampire' also if you havn't seen it,it tells the story in a unique way of the making of Nosferatu.I also saw 'Phantom Of The Opera' at this venue the previous year, excellent! :D

I saw that for a German class, except that all of the text segments were in English, which seemed to defeat the purpose. A fine example of film from that period.

I thought it was great, and the make-up was suprisingly well done.

There is also a great soundtrack you may find on P2P from a band called "Art Zoyd"

Heh, That movie ROCKS!!

Nosferatu was made by Prana studios in Germany the movie was supose to be a Dracula movie but seen that Prana had not asked or paid Florence Stoker for the right to use the name Dracula for the movie Florence sued. Prana made the movie but had to change the title of the movie. The new title was Nosferatu Eine Symphonie des Grauens ( A Symphoney of Shudders ) The movie was directed by Fredrich Welhelm Murnau Fredrichs real first name was Plumpe. The movie Nosferatu takes place in the year 1838 and actor Max Shreck plays the Vampire Graf Orlok. Orlok lives in his castle Castle Orava. The town Orlok attacks is Bremen and the movie was filmed om location in Slovakia. When Florence Stoker sued Prana all copys of Nosferatu were destroyed or so it was thought. In 1930 8 years later a Vampire movie was disoverd the title of this movie was Zwilfte Stunde ( The Twelfth Hour ) This movie had sound and the name of the Vampire in this movie was Furst Wollkoff however when this movie was viewed it turned out to be a lost copy of Nosferatu. Someone had kept a copy of Nosferatu for 8 years and when movies were able to have sound someone added sound to the missing Nosferatu movie. Another copy of Nosferatu may have been disoverd as well and that one is the one horror fans see today on DVD as it has no sound. In 1979 Nosferatu was remade and titled Nosferatu Phantom der Natcht Klause Kinski played the role of Graf Orlok. Then in 2000 a movie about the making of Nosferatu was made titled Shadow of the Vampire staring William Dafoe.

I really liked this film. It has been awhile since I've seen it but I thought it was a great film. I remeber it being creepy especially when all the coffins are in the middle of the town square.

Yeah that's a great movie.. the classics are my faves
-
One of my favorite movies
I have a copy of this, with Shreck as Orlok
I have not seen any of the others though
-
I've always enjoyed this one, too. Years back public TV used to show silent films, including some of the horror ones like Nosferatu and also Phantom of the Opera.
-
I was clicking around on the remote a few weeks back and one of the channels
aired the 1927 "Metropolis" :-o
-
I was lucky enough to see the version of "Nosferatu" without sound at the age of 17. It was a really awesome experience! The place I rented it from has so far turned out to be the only one that rented it, and they stopped a few months later.

I would realy like to see this film once again, so I'm currently trying to find it on DVD.
