Title: Necromancy
Post by: Searif Bogard on April 16, 2006, 02:45:20 PM
I was just becoming curious on various things about necromancy, yet I have found a lack of information. If anyone wants to help me with my research please do so, I am open to doing anything, but if I do not approve of it I will let you know.

And if there is any problem someone as inexperianced just studying Necromancy then tell me and I will stop my attempts if there is a good reason too.

It's been my own experience that the dead have very little to say. When one dies, they aren't privy to any more knowledge than they had in life except, perhaps, "Getting shot hurts a lot", for example...

By and large it's best to leave the Dead be. Especially since meddling can open doorways to things that you never intended, such as those that guard the dead. Pick a culture - stories of them abound everywhere (Hades, Hel, about 50 Egyptian gods across about as many dynasties... etc.), and from what I know about them, not a single one of them really appreciates upstart mortals poking around where they aren't wanted.

I was never planning on using necromancy just studying it, it seems very interesting that people could raise the dead.

kay but if you are ever tempted, remember that it's rude to wake the dead.

the most popular form of necromancy is divinantion...automatic writing, quija boards, mediumship...even ghost hunting on a certain level could be considered necromancy...that's where raising the dead comes from...not actually summoning corpses to life as some zombie like creation...that's best left for voodoo.

there are more obscure forms of necromancy that deal with utilizing parts of corpses for various uses...an example that comes to mind; would be the hand of a thief, hung for his crime, removed from his body and a candle inserted into the palm to keep away thieves...considering the disease factor and legalities of such an interest for the art, any energy one could derive is...insignificant to other forms, that can be utilized.

i do agree with the warnings most attribute to these pursuits, but if one is willing to start out with the "contacting spirit guide" approach in books easily found in any new age section of a book store...and have a firm faith in their ability to protect and be protected...the realm becomes more understandable, and less dangerous with practice.

have you ever notice how many teenagers use ouija boards and contact something that decides not to leave? they get scared out of their mind and come looking for help for it. why are ouija boards able to bought in a wal-mart for eight dollars?

because there's no scientific proof that there's anything supernatural about them, the industrialised world would prefer to not give anything that much credence.

personally, i think it's just a focal point, people can reach out to the supernatural without the aid of any device...but with a medium point, it's influenced on a subconscious level, "they'll" say what the people playing, want to hear...that's where the danger comes from.  internally or externally driven, things can go badly for people "playing" a game.

they can be fun with the right group of people, and a nudge.

the dead really wouldn't be that useful in controlling the world, you'd have better luck with charm, wit and lots of money.

If by chance you did find that book I would be more worried about how it got there, or who put it there. As far as I know Vodoo has had the best results with raiseing the dead. There are other text among sects around the world that speak of controling those who have recently left this world, but it was mainly the spirits of those who had just passed.

Yes I second that voodoo point^^. I think I posted this ages ago but however:

Dr. Wade Davis, an ethnobiologist from Harvard, went to Haiti to research a sighting on a zombie. He discovered how to make a zombie. First, make them "dead", then make them "mad" so that their minds are malleable. Often, a local "witch doctor" secretly gives them the drugs.

He made the victim "dead" with a mixture of toad skin and puffer fish. You can put it in their food, or rub it on their skin, especially the soft, undamaged skin on the inside of the arm near the elbow. The victims soon appear dead, with an incredibly slow breath, and an incredibly slow and faint heartbeat. In Haiti, people are buried very soon after death, because the heat and the lack of refrigeration makes the bodies decay very rapidly. This suits the zombie-making process. You have to dig them up within eight hours of the burial, or else they'll die of asphyxiation.

The skin of the common toad can kill - especially if the toad has been threatened. There are three main nasties in toad venon - biogenic amines, bufogenine and bufotoxins. One of their many effects is that of a pain-killer - far stronger than cocaine. Boccaccio's medieval tale, the Decameron, tells the story of two lovers who die after eating a herb, sage, that a toad had breathed upon.

The other half of the witch doctor's wicked potion comes from the pufferfish, which is known in Japan as "fugo". Its poison is called "tetrodotoxin", a deadly neurotoxin. Its pain-killing effects are 160,000 times stronger than cocaine. Eating the fish can give you a gentle physical "tingle" from the tetrodotoxin - and in Japan, the chefs who prepare fugo have to be licensed by the government. Even so, there are rare cases of near-deaths or actual deaths from eating fugo. The toxin drops your temperature and blood pressure, and puts you into a deep coma. In Japan, some of the victims recovered a few days after being declared dead.

Once you've got the zombie-in-waiting out of the ground, you make them mad, by force-feeding them a paste made from datura (Jimsons Weed). Datura breaks your links with reality, and then destroys all recent memories. So you don't know what day it is, where you are and, worst of all, you don't even know who you are. The zombies are in a state of semi-permanent induced psychotic delirium. They are sold to sugar plantations as slave labour. They are given datura again if they seem to be recovering their senses.

Datura (Jimsons Weed, Angel's Trumpet, Brugmanisa candida) contains the chemicals atropine, hyoscyamine and scopolamine, which can act as powerful hallucinogens in the appropriate doses. They can also cause permanent memory loss, paralysis and death.
The person who applies these chemicals to a victim has to be quite skilled, so that they won't kill them. There is a very small gap between appearing-to-be-dead, and actually being dead.

:)

Sorry for getting off topic hehehehe......
