Okay, so i rented this movie expecting a fantastic family haunting and it basically turned into a movie about the cycles a family can repeat. the mother through awful circumstance became a mother and then an alcaholic, resulting in her daughter making the same choices, ending up in the same situation and haunted by her mother, like her mother before her and the daughter ends up chained in a laundry room to protect her.
It made me wonder, with the variety of pastors like bob larsen that insist something as simple as an addiction is derived from demon possession, maybe that would be a more subtle way to attack us, on the other hand we were designed to become addicted, especially to the chemicals that trick our naturally occuring chemicals and reactions into over production and, well...euphoria. This movie sort of demonstrated the potential this can cause, expecially with the possibility of hereditary genes, sort of like a tendency to alcholism for children of alcholics.
i rather hope not, if so i'm horribly infested and need an army of priests. ;)

If Bob Larsen (I do not know who he is, other than what you've stated) is saying things like "an addiction is derived from demonic possession", then I find his claims very far fetched and ultimately baseless.
Alcohol dependence is far from "new" science. I wouldn't go as far as saying "we understand it 100%", but it's safe to say that we can reasonably rule out currently fictional entities such as demons as the likely cause.
There are three factors that determine one's predisposition to alcoholism.
1. Alcohol habits of the parents
2. Environmental influences around the child
3. Hereditary predisposition. Specifically, a certain type of endorphin is lacking, making you more likely to become dependent on alcohol.
