I just thought I'd offer up this title as a recommendation to you all. Thomas Lynch is a poet who is also the funeral director for a small town in Michigan. This book is an introspective journey through his work, and how he and others deal with the concepts and realities of death. It's a marvelous read and has the definite potential to challenge the reader. I highly recommend picking it up and giving it a try.

You've got me "dead to rites" on this one. I've never heard of it!

Heh, I'd never heard of it either, but it was part of the reading for a creative writing class of mine, and it remains some of the best creative nonfiction I've read.

Writing a non-fiction book like that is a huge "undertaking". I bet people were "dieing" to get mentioned in it! To be a mortician one must have a "stiff" upper lip and be "rigor-ous" in one's beliefs.
I'd make a joke about his name but it is too obvious...

I'm betting you couldn't come up with a pun or quip based on his profession that he hasn't already heard...he's pretty old.
Did I mention he's a Poet Laureate?
