As far as I know, they are what I like to call remnants.

They come from an age where humanity was very young, some think they are the watered down myths & legends of ancient gods, others that they are spirit entities of the elements & life.

In any case, in my personal opinion, they are a mere shadow of whatever they truly once where, either gods, or powerful spiritual beings.

I saw the Fae again but the succubus was with me....she didnt even try to hurt/suduse me again....NE ways I think they are born like the rest of us.
