So, i have a question, what is it about burning sage or whatever it is, that a spirit doesnt like? and leaves because of it?

I typically think of it as kind of like medicine. Certain herbs or plants have certain qualities that can 'get rid of' that particular parasite, virus, bacteria etc... They have certain repellant characteristics against negative energy. So sage would make negative things want to run away.
