How do you ensure that people REALLY understand that you are 'THE AUTHORITY' in any given social setting?

How do you ensure that people REALLY understand that you are 'THE AUTHORITY' in any given social setting?

 I don't know, but I'd like some pointers.

before i say anything , im not claiming to be an "alpha". im not in the habit of blowing my own trumpet so to speak , and its not in my character to say things to make myself sound larger than life , even on the web.

the way i see it , you can be the authority depending on a few things. Being a good leader comes down to a number of things , inteligance , common sense , logic , fairness & being impartial ( for solving disputes without being putting bais on one side) and be able to make good descions and stick with them , and except responsibility - after all , theyre following you.age seems to help , people tend to look up to their peers , as they have had more life experiance.
 
personally , its always good to be open minded to other people's opinions

I guess psychological domination depends on 2 things:

- physical characteristics
- presence

If you look like you can over power a person and project the image of a 'superior mind' then you've dominated them. Whether you do that through fear or respect is up to the physical characteristics you highlight and the kind of superiority you project.

Well actually I like to experiment with social normalities. I have learned that if you take initiate on everything that goes on in the group. (like when you and someone talk at the same time talk a little louder so they will cave into your voice) keep on doing things like this and you will subtly become the lead person there.

Well actually I like to experiment with social normalities. I have learned that if you take initiate on everything that goes on in the group. (like when you and someone talk at the same time talk a little louder so they will cave into your voice) keep on doing things like this and you will subtly become the lead person there.

i wouldnt say thats the best example you gave. if some spoke louder over me id speak louder , and if they kept on doing it... it wouldnt be pretty. mainly cos its really irritating and rude lol. I see what your getting at though , and i have two terms for you all.

A simple and commonly known form of psychological domination is silence, my mum used to use it on me when I was little. If I lied she would just look at me until I started trying to explain myself more thoroughly and just digging a bigger hole. Now I think about it, it could have been more that 'you're kidding' stare.

I don't know, silence is only golden because we crave it after making so much noise. It wouldn't be so beautiful if we only had silence. If you take a relationship for example at the beginning you've got to make some noise (conversation) and the same sort of noise at that (similar topics of interest), the more noise you make (communication) and the longer you make it for the more comfortable the silences between it all become.

 When I said silence is golden, I meant in certain situations. A well placed silence can do you more good than yelling your head off.
