Secular, skeptical and religiously liberal groups and individuals have long given up any belief in Satan, his demons, demon possession as a cause of illness, and the need for exorcism.
The rational point of view is that alleged demonic possession is probably caused by:
*brain disorders (eg epilepsy), or
*illnesses (eg schizophrenia), or
*otherwise healthy people temporarily suffering stress, anxieties or emotional crises
However, some cases remain 'unexplained'.
