WHAT ARE SOME POWERS OF A SHADOW?
Shadows can affect the weather with thier emotions. They can also locate people through thier emotions (they are empaths, in a sense). They can be stronger than a natural human, hide much better (blend in with the shadows), and in thier out of human state, shapeshift to an extent.

WEAKNESSES?
Although I know some of thier weaknesses, I have no idea why some of them work. If you want to ward of a Shadow, Shaodws hate the number twelve. Try putting twelve thumbtacks aroun your door. If you have twelve letter name (that's your first and your last name) then they might always leave you alone. I happen to have thirteen letters in my name (the fave number of Shadows). Having thirteen letters in your name makes you a more likely candidate. 13 atracts them, as does any multiple of it. If your hous is made of 169 (13 times 13) bricks, you may be in trouble.
Shadows are not fond of sunlight, and it pains them to look at it. It will weaken them slightly to be out in the sun for a little while. Nevertheless, they can stand it if they must. They love overcast days (obviously).

I think that should help a little.  You might want to also just read the rest of that first post as it is very informative.

It is a little vauge though. Only the number twelve is a sure fire way to know. Also look into the shadow-kin post in the otherkin section. Ummm sunlight affects psy-vamps, and other things as well, so that prolly won't help so much.

I can say the storms/moon making you energized is pretty normal as I'm the same way.  You should've seen me bouncing off the walls when I got in from tornado weather one night.

I absolutley love storms I get so much energy same with full moons, but that gives me a darker feeling. So i guess its normal.... but then again were all not that normal to begin with lol.

Lots of people feel like that I get thrills on a full moon too, when I'm out I can feel the earth energy dancing through the fields and grass. Rain is just like natures dance. When the rain hits the ground it is like hundreds of feet clogging on stone and earth. Its quite refreshing, unless it is cold out.

Shadows do not usually take an animal form, however, demons love to take black animal forms. Though, not every time it is a demon. Sometimes its just the spirit of a cat that doesn't want to leave or finds you interesting...

Chances are then it is your old cat. Spirits can travel no matter how far the distance from their origin.

 Your old cat is prolly what you call a familiar. Alot of times when animals die, that are close to you, they can become familiars to protect and guide you.

Just be on your guard, you never know what it could be until its to late...

Just be careful, some entities can turn into loved ones and other things till your gaurd is off.

I've recently been told (by a very trusted friend and a member of this site) that I could possibly be a Shadow in Human form and a Psych Vamp. Can anyone explain this to me?   

More than likely you just possess their traits. This could mean that you are being followed by them, but then again it could mean nothing.
Shadows aren't all that different from us. More like a different race than a different being altogether.

But I don't know what the wards are. And if they don't work... how can I know if I've run into one?? 

A near perfect ward would be to place 12 thumbtacks or something similar on your door.
Then try and spend time in your room. If it anything unusual occurs eg. Stress, fear of the unknown even physical or mental pain, you will have a fair indication.
Also if you see another Shadow and feel connected to it like you would with a close human relative that will also help.
It is hard to find a clear distinction between Shadow to Shadow as when they drain human there becomes an emotional attatchment of sorts.
