Thought provoking.

I like it.

QuoteWhat am I supposed to say?
Do you have an answer?

The last two lines really moved me,Shadow. Some questions have answers that simply cannot be revealed.

Quote from: ShadowlingUm... I wrote it.

   'What would you say'

What would you say,
if I told you
that I see
shadowy creatures late at night?
They crawl up the wall of my mind,
and stare down at me.
They walk on the street around me.
But you can't see them.
What would you say,
if I told you
I have to fight everyone around me,
because thier emotions are crushing mine
and I have to feel the world's misery?
and you can't feel it.
What do I say,
when you ask me,
what's wrong?
What am I supposed to say?
Do you have an answer?

Shadowling... misunderstood in the real world by those NORMAL (supernaturally unaware) folk.  Yet, here he is on the monstrous forums, adored.  In the last part of the poem it kind of shows his struggle with words, or with explanation, of what makes him the way he is.  You may go to a psychiatrist and talk about your problems and whatnot but you are beyond therapy, because what you see and what you feel makes you different.  Everyone who is not you does not understand what it is like, so how are you supposed to explain yourself to anyone?  You're alone for the most part, at least on a deeper level... you may have people to cover your outer layers but your deepest, innermost self exists in solitude.  You are cursed simply by who you are, and at times you are almost ashamed of it... or regret having lived the life you have lived thus far.

It is almost ironic... that the outermost layers of your personality and your mere existence, your outermost self, is plagued.  You are never alone when you want to be, and I don't mean people are always around... it's your feelings and emotions.  Being an empath, there is no off switch for you.  You constantly feel, and even see things, which most people are constantly unaware of.  Often times you find yourself thinking about what it would be like without these "abilities" and you fail to see the positive aspects of simply being who you are, because you are too drawn into your own emotions.

If only someone would understand what it was like to be you.

Anyway, that is what I gather from it.  It is late though, and I am tired... so maybe I'm wrong?  I think not though.  You tell me.

Actually, my existence isn't nearly as dreary or painful as I so commonly depict it. I amquite happy with my live in general. Most of my lamentations on my life were written on bad days when I had to get some steam let out. For the most part, I think I cope quite well.
Oh- one more thing- I don't think I'm 'adored' or anything like that.

Oh, certainly I feel misunderstood at times, but I think most people on here do quite a good job of understanding me, at least, most of me.
Anyway, I'm certainly not depressed. Thanks for trying, though. You got most of the technical attributes correct. :)

I meant the current mood you attempted to portray in your poem =P

i.e. the letting some steam loose which you just mentioned.

Regardless, we all have a darker side to our existence, but certainly that is not how you feel all the time.  But these boards and your real life are two very different venues for your feelings.

So, yeah... I just meant to apply those things to your real life, and not even all the time in your real life... but I was just trying to analyze the poem a bit that's all =P

And you are adored on these forums by the way  :P

Bravo, Shadowling.

An intricate webwork of emotions carefully woven into a poem about how you feel.  I liked it.  Keep up the good work.
