Title: Focal points & objects
Post by: Azurahn on September 23, 2011, 05:45:07 AM
Trying to find a new set, mostly for containment and communication. Mine ended up in my cousin's car, and she lives across the country from me

There is such little detail, I don't know what exactly you are looking for. In Wiccan practices, they used an Athame (if I remember correctly) and in other practices, gem stones. More commonly, it's whatever the hell you want it to be (myself, I am guilty of using a cat toy xD;; ). What KIND are you looking for exactly?  Mind you, I read about your containment and communication but there is still more you can go into. What kind of things did you have in your last set?

Gemstones:
Necklaces - http://www.amazon.com/Set-12-Semi-Precious-Gemstone-Pendants/dp/B004HX3D7I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1316782934&sr=8-2 (http://www.amazon.com/Set-12-Semi-Precious-Gemstone-Pendants/dp/B004HX3D7I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1316782934&sr=8-2)
Mix Box - http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Gem-Stones-Tumbled-Colletors/dp/B0031LPGPE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1316782934&sr=8-3 (http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Gem-Stones-Tumbled-Colletors/dp/B0031LPGPE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1316782934&sr=8-3)

EDIT: Thank you Countess for helping me correct my spelling :3

New set of what? Anything you need can be found online or even in your own home, it doesn't need to be some expensive or fancy thing since it is just a focal point for the energy you put into it. Azure Green, Isis Books both have excellent selections for just about any religious path.

Anaya, you meant Athame a ceremonial dagger/knife. It's used in much the same way as a wand & represents the Male aspect of the universe.

Uh well, I think I'm looking for a complete overhaul. Let's do one issue at a time, LOL.

I used a fountain, the kind that has a spinning sphere, to help me focus what was my mind and what was the Ratchet's.
When I wasn't home I used mirrors inside and a zippo outside. It provided a reflective surface and fire to sortof find myself if I felt like I was losing the battle.

I think I'm looking for less crutchlike objects.

The Ratchet? What battle? What exactly are you using it for? As for less crutch-like objects it can be something like a piece of jewelry or a small amulet you keep in your wallet.

Battle was already explained.

The Ratchet, as in a Hound of the Wild Hunt

Little trinkets and amulets aren't exactly my idea of good focal objects for something like this.

I'm sorry but I don't see where the battle was explained. But since you mentioned that the Ratchet is one of the hounds of the Wild Hunt I am  assuming you are  dealing with what is also called a hell hound & are looking for something with a little more oomph or similar to what you had in your previous collection. If that is the case, is the hound attached to a certain area or home; or more to a person/family?

To help me focus what was my mind and what was the Ratchet's.
To sortof find myself

That battle.

Ratchet is a general term as is Hell Hound, but preferred over it because often what's described as a Hell hound is myth.
And think of this as Therianthropy if it makes it easier, because that's the closest explanation to what's going on I can comfortably offer even to myself.

The lighter was good, as was the fountain. But I had support. Both things are now in Washington, and I'm stuck getting ready to move to Ohio.

My other friends aren't strong or aware enough to offer support, so yeah I guess items that have a lot of oomph.

I know items are picky, person sensitive so I understand that I'm the only one to find it/them, but I don't know anything about this stuff lol. I need pointed in the right direction, some suggestions to try.

It was only a few years ago I got my answers as to "wth is wrong with me" and I had a wife, a cousin and her husband for support. Silly that I didn't start learning all this sooner.

Hope that clears the confusion. If you need more detail, pm me.

Try it without the trinkets. If it dosnt work try harder.

 Its an idea I've wanted to try. Can't afford to fail at someplace like work or class and I don't have the time or support to make a go of it except vaca days. I'd prefer to use those for family.

And I know someone will bring it up, believing it's relevant so I'll answer it now.......... I have no way of describing the experiences of  failure without sounding bananas or full of s**t, so please don't expect it. It's useless to all this anyhow.

No need to explain it, sounds like my views on failure arent much different from yours.

"Failure is not an option" sort of a thing I guess.

Those who enter into challenges with that mind set often do not fail. Those who refuse the challenge have failed already. Not being ready and waiting is understandable though, far too many rush into things to early. But if the final result is success, the previous atempts that failed no longer matter. Failure is a steping stone we all must tread on from time to time. There is no shame in it.

It's failing at work or something that makes me not want to just jump into it like everything else.

Come by when we have a session, if it's not too awkward. I'm sure you'll find support. There's a couple other Therianthropes here.

Thanks for the offer.

I want to do this on my own, but I would like something for a focal point for work and stuff.

Was there anything special about the lighter or was it more the fire from it that helped you focus?  You could start with a new lighter than try to move onto visualizing the flame for places like work where whipping out a lighter may not go over so well.

Get one of the wanna-be-Chris-Angel-ball's https://www.asseenontv.com/fushigi/detail.php?p=294378&v=toys (https://www.asseenontv.com/fushigi/detail.php?p=294378&v=toys)  called the Fushigi Magic Gravity Ball and try that. It'll replace the fountain you lost or you can just have your sibling mail you your old set in a flat rate box for less than $20! Cheep and easy, yes? Keeps you with a familiar set you are looking for.

After my almost... week absent... I am still not sure how to help you exactly. Not as angry as I was before, but still confused. Why don't you send me a PM of your failure, and I'll send you one of mine? Hell, I'll even post my failure after. If I KNOW what you are fighting against (AKA what happens when you fail), I can have a direction to give you. I don't fight fuzzy pups in my psychological side, I fight demons and other spirits who wanna take a joy ride in my body. Daily. Hourly. Heightened emotions causes the fight to kick up and start over again. I am (self diagnosed) bi-polar so this is a constant struggle for me. If not bi-polar, then manic depressive (DIAGNOSED through QTC appointments with the VA) which is very much a handful when the smallest thing (like horrible wording from my husband) can set me off into a spiral decline which means I have to disconnect myself from MY family to try and get a hold of myself to keep me from being a puppet to any puppeteer that may want to saunter up to me and be 'friends'. If it IS a problem, you may have to just take a day away from the family and work on it. Even if that means locking yourself in the bedroom for the day, a bathroom, or just going into the park or woods to get alone. Practice makes perfect and I'm sure if you are use to supportive people helping you and now you have no one, you are going to have some failures along the way and failure fuels a person for success. Like inventing the light-bulb, it takes some tests.

If it sounds rude or harsh, the above, I'm sorry. It's the way I word things when I get like this. Lack of information frustrates me. You should hear what is said to my husband when he fails with information...

No disrespect meant, Anaya but in general you don't seem to be the type of person  I'm willing to work with.

Maybe its your attitude, borderline insults, speed at which you jumped to anger and the other things, because you were or are confused.

Whatever it is, thanks for giving the post some attention, your sites were a great starting point for me, but so I don't say something stupid and draw out a potential argument, this is the only response I'm going to give your post.

Countess, the lighter had markings etched into it, and was one of the first zippos the factory in Bradford, Pa put out.

Reflection helped me see me, the fire was this major source of energy to help me regain control. Maybe like a meditation on crack? Scrying for my soul and pushing the hound back?

Okay, I have a much clearer picture now. Since fire does seem to be a key to helping you maintain control have you considered a small flame tattoo? Maybe visualizing yourself looking into a mirror with a flame in front of it combining both control & focus on yourself. Just spitballing ideas but I would focus on the fire & mirror since they seem to be the most effective methods for you.

I considered the tattoo, but I lack imagination so I'm afraid it wouldn't work.

Fire's hard to replace or minimize.  :|

I found a black stone  with a reddish orange almost glow inside it. I'm going to try that.
