pagans have their techniques to.  *waggles tongue at viper*

from Urban Primitive by Raven Kaldera and Tannin Scwartzstein

..."different ropus have different wording and versions.  they they will vary in complexity and strength; sometimes the LBR is a solitary work and the GBR is a group activity.  generally speaking however the lbr disperses the energy of the spirit, disrupting  it enough so that it dislodges, and the GBR ocks it out completely or destroys it.  one option is to utilize them for advice.  on the other end, kitchen folk magic being on the opposite side of the spectrum from ceremonialmagic, there is an old folk charm that suggests a way to get rid of spirits.  "cook dinner, using all the best dishes, set an extra place for the spirit, serve it the food, and eat dinner, yourself.  after you've finished, open the front door and tell it that you've fed it, and it now has to leave. dig a hole and bury the food afterwards, returning it to the earth. if you live in a place where it's dangerous to dig in the dirt, give it to a needy person*chuckles* in their honor.

another option especially for nonviolent spirits is to do several cleansings and purifications over a period of days or weeks.  however if you've tried all these things and nothing works, don't go it alone, call in friends to help you out and do the banishing ritual of your choice..."

*what i personally agree with about this section of their advice

"ghosts are in general nothing to be afraid of, although we've been scared by a few, we've never found any actual evidence of someone who was killed by one...the delicious thrill we get from retelling a ghostly hitchhiker myth...actually detracts from our ability to calmly and effectively handle an actual haunting when it occurs...the more sane you are about dealing with it, the less it can harm you."

any other suggestions?

I prefer rejection techniques, after all it is very hard for any spirit to occupy any spcae which is ambivalent to its existance.

I stand up and tell them
"Leave or I will make you leave."
If they progress, I would have to get out my fun ritual stuff I dont have and perform a necro banishing with a little twist of my own I cannot say.

Usually the mere presense of a natural mage will send them packing without so much as a goodbye.
