Title: Plants and magick
Post by: Regina Terra on December 06, 2008, 05:22:29 PM
Do living plants have a lot to do with magick? I ask cuz I am always drawn to them. But only when they are alive, I don't like fake plants, dried plants, or flowers that have been cut away to put in vases and stuff.

I'm wondering if there is a reason for this? I only noticed recently when I rescued two baby onion plants that where gonna get thrown away when they where found sprouting from our onions in our pantry. ^.^

Well, I sent you a list Regina, but if anyone else wants it just ask.

I do like talking to trees.  Weird, huh?  But I think if you listen closely they may talk back.  Or I'm crazy *<:)

But seriously, plants are living, so why not have a power of their own?

Historically herbs and other plants have always had a lot to do with magic, just look at druids. . .

Ifind plants alot easier to converse with than most animals usually there slower less one tracked and even tempered anyways enouph of my rant on trees and things all plants have there own specific kind of power that comes from several things like how they grow where do they grow e.t.c there great to work magic with.

As with the plants being used for magic, those who follow pagan/wicca/ect are usually one with nature. (Think of the rede: And it harm none, do as you will) And also, being closer to the elements, some tend to feel a little more for all the things mother nature has to offer.

Personally, any herbs I love. Just sitting in the woods for long periods of time helps put me at ease too. The trees and plants are comforting.

most pagan religions are earth based so they refer to anything that grows off the lands

Plants are a natural source of power. For druids we use the energy they give off to mix with our own power. Plants are more structrually sound than animals they have more time to actually think about life and the revolving world. Trees are amazing for this. they hold vast knowldge and wisdom that no man would eve find in a text or manuscript. In other beliefs they use the instant magick of plants. they will cook them or burn them to release there essence, which is like an energy drink it will give you power immediately but will drain you later.

Tronth I think that has some validity. Since caffeine is derived from a plant it could be considered its essence. You drink it and feel the energy now but then feel drained later.

I have also heard that trees have wisdom in many ways. They speak not with words, but what they can tell is beyond the words they cannot speak.
