Title: Doppelgangers and a Stranger
Post by: Fay_Lovecraft on September 09, 2010, 10:33:23 PM
I don't know if this is the right forum, but it's as close as I could find.  A few nights ago, I got up to fix my hamster's squeaky wheel before hitting the hay, when I suddenly had the strongest impression there was another me lying in bed. I was even afraid of waking this other me up, in case she was already afriad. I was absolutely certain she was there, I even saw her out of the corner of my eye...then my rational mind took over and said, wth? And I looked again and she was gone.

At other times in the past year, I have seen a strange man, about 5'8, with shoulder length hair, and a long coat. I saw him walking into my sister's room once, but not clearly, so I thought it was my dad, but then I heard my mom and dad in the kitchen, and since all my siblings were in the room with me, and noone else has a key to the house, I knew it must be something strange. This was the first time I saw him. A few months later, I was lying in bed, between sleep and waking, when he was suddenly in the room. He walked all around, looking at everything, as if he was interested, like it was new to him. He then leaned over the bed, looking at my face, but not lewdly or romantically, kind of like how you would look at an interesting creature you had found.  Then he walked very calmly out of the room, closing the door behind him, leaving it a crack open as it had been before. I felt no fear of,or malevolence from, the apparition.  However, my younger brother has seen something similar, and he was afraid. Could he be seeing through the Stranger's disguise, like how young children are supposed to be able to see ghosts better than adults? Or is he reacting primally to an unidentified creature? I'd be glad for any serious views on this ...I'm not sure what to make of this figure, who also appears as a passive figure in my dreams.

Warning: kind of tired and it makes me loopy.

Anyway, the doppelganger could easily have been your imagination if you were tired enough like I am now :D or it could have been pretense to something happening. A friend of mine had something like this happen. Though for him he was walking by a chair and felt like there was someone in it that he really didn't like and kicked the chair really hard and the thing jarred and disappeared. Not long later, he had forgotten about it and fell asleep in the chair when he was jarred and fell out of the chair. That's my input on that.

Next!
Oh! I love Shadows!

Never write off a child's fear as unnecessary. To you, he could mean no harm, but the boy... he could be a target. Children, from my interactions, will recognize when the spirit is a threat and when it's not. There are the few odd cases where a child will overlook something dangerous cause it is being nice. K, well, that just makes the kid need a refresher on strangers. BAH! ANYWAY! I wish I knew more about an appearance but what can you do with a shadow?

Hope I helped some. If you have questions or need any advice or just wanna chitter chat, let me know. :D

*gasps* Could this be the hat man, without the hat? Based off of what you posted it seems like a sorta reverse out-of-body experience. Basically you saw your astral body already in bed, a step ahead of you. Your astral body showing you or acting out your intentions. The man, well... That is intriguing. It sounds like the the hat man with out a hat, maybe he hasn't earned his hat yet. But be wary of this man, looks and first impressions can be deceiving.
