Firstly, purely from a technical point of view, new linked posts to other articles generate through traffic and google hits, allowing people to cross from other sites and find this site, generating readership and membership (and occasionally revenue, which is quite handy unless you want to start paying the hosting costs yourselves). That's why Loki asks moderators to keep their boards up to date with news items and snippets (and not delete news items out of petty spite, as certain mods here do...) Secondly, they are for information, not necessarily conversation: noone here has to reply to anything - and as for the peurile comment "most of what is said in the links are already mentioned in other threads in this board", well, it might surprise you that most of what has has been posted in the last 12 months is also contained in the previous 12 months worth of posts, and so on right back to year one of this site. Want to weed out everything - because a good deal of it is actually pretty frikking tiresome and childish - that's been said before? Thirdly, they're not the same link, which shows that you didn't read them. Finally, if it doesn't interest you, don't bother reading them, just as I rarely bother reading anything that you post.
