I have heard of a lot of strange goings on with shadows but I've never heard of any shadow raping someone......could it possibly be that the "raping" is of another sort; like raping their will??

that's true! their attack is on emotions,more often when you're feeling depressed,melancholy,etc. ... i think that somehow it's their ''food'' rather than trying to recruit human in their own,but it happens...

 Just a thought, but could it be that for a second he was seeing what the shadow people realy are? who realy knows forsure what they are able to do or realy look like without the cover of shadows..

And personaly I dont think anyone or anything is above doing anything, if that makes sense.

In my opinion I believe your friend was lying about the encounter. I have seen shadow people majority of my life. Most of time shadow people try to avoid any contact with humans. Second i never encounter any shadow people speaking or in large numbers. Either your friend had a rare encounter with shadow people or perhaps maybe encounter with a cluster of demons. It would be more plausible it was a group of demons then shadow people. I have seen shadow people form in broad daylight but it rare but they do so at will.

Likely NOT a demon, to be honest. Why on earth would a demon wear black robes and do no more than fly through a person? I really don't understand.

That said, also definitely not a shadow.
