Title: Not really crucial, but is an oddity that needs an answer.
Post by: onishadowolf on April 08, 2009, 02:48:54 AM
Ok, I couldn't find a category to put this in so I'll put it here. When I become extremely upset my eyes change color and it's not a simple color change like blue to brown. No, it's a big change. The irises of my eyes change to a purple with swirls of black, which my friend dubbed the color vorpol(because he stated it wasn't a Barney purple, but a wicked purple, so needed it's own name that was also wicked).
This phenomenon has only occurred four times in my life. Some witnesses to this phenomenon say they sorta glow a little but they weren't sure because it was too posperous.

It has happened to me again recently while I was having fight with my ex-fian`ce, it made her call me a psychotic and try to lock me out the apartment, when I stepped out to get my food she set outside.(if you really want to know what transpired then PM me.)
What I want to know is why do my eyes do that? Is there scientific explanation?
A meta physical explanation? Oh and now she won't hardly talk to me, childish little tormentor....succubus...inconsiderate...damn women! Oops did I say that, it's true they're all evil!

You say your eyes change color, but I am curiouse as to what else may transpire with you.  Do you knotice any other changes within or about yourself at this time of change?  Is it stress that triggers this effect, or is it just anger.  What else do you feel emotionally with the change?  Do you become uncontrolable, Hateful, ect... Or does a clearer veiw of your current situation come to you, allowing you to veiw things from a more enlightened position.

The majority of the times have been when I was beyond just Pi$$ed off. But once was during a really bad storm, like something was off about the storm.

A strange calm comes over me, like a void type feeling, it's hard to explain the feelings.

I was going to suggest one thing for this as a possibility, but since we are talking on two topics currently, do you think it is possible that your empathy/feeding could be linked to this phenomina.  During a fight you are feeding off of emotions that are currently running unchecked, and as an empath, you can ( and obviousely do ) enhance those feelings.  Think of yourself as a battery, your getting a huge charge at these times, what I would suggest is that as you enter confrontations, try to remember this.  Try to limit how much energy you let run uncontrolled, or if yourself unable to do this, walk away, trust me its better if you do.  Find some way to bow out gracefully.  Once you are away, your energies will balance ( since there are no charging forces to feed off of ).

I think that could be it. I have not found anything medical about this yet, only stuff about people with different colored eyes and how it's rare.

Purple eyes are very rare  to begin with. My moms eyes go from mud brown to alge green when she's pissed, kinda like a mood stone some peoples eyes change. Mine used to but recently the 'normal' eye color has changed so...i don't know any more

My wifes go from green to Brown when she is upset.  I rather enjoy it as I don't have to even assk if she is mad, just one look and I know what to do.  RUN FOR MY LIFE.  My wife is the only thing I know of scarrier than me.

This is not noteworthy at all.  People's eyes can change color from changes in brain chemistry.  This has been scientifically tested and evaluated.  I know alot of therians say their eyes glow yellow when they have particularly powerful shifts (and mine do stuff like that too).

Yes I know this Sherlawk, but there is nothing on purple. I looked up the processes and the pigment melanin darkens. Btw I did say it wasn't crucial.
I have found out that the reflected light from the ritina is red and when it interacts with pigment in the iris it can cause a aqua or violet color. There is also another pigment called lipofusion it is yellowish brown. But nothing on the purple swirl with black.

Correction there is pigment on both sides of the iris, back and front, and the red from the ritina causes different color changes. The fiber of the iris are grey, and from what I read they are still learning about this and finding out new things.

purple eyes are caused by the reflection of blood upon the retina giving the already lightened blue tones of your iris a purple hue
emotional tension often brings out the entirity of your being i wouldnt think it impossiblew to have large color shift like that when angry. but it sounds like it should happen more often.

Maybe it has something to do with the lighting in the area you're in.

Maybe, or it could be a combination of things.

Sure. Maybe you're even contagious, that would be cooler, like the zombies' eyes in the Dawn of the Dead

first i'd like to say,it sounds awesome,in fact i'm a little jealous.Have you ever seen an anime where the main characters eyes change? Its usually caused by tapping into another sources power.I would'nt mess with it a whole lot without some friends to make sure i don't go ballistic
