Post by: rave phillaphia on March 24, 2009, 07:47:37 PM
Does anyone know any good books that explain how the Cabalah (jewish mystism) works? It would be greatly apprieciated to learn more of the aspect of envoking the angelic realms and how they work. I am not going to actually do it I just want to know how they work and history behind the Cabalah. Thank you so much!!!

Well for Jewish mysticism its Spelled Kabbalah, the other spelling could get you another direction...I may be wrong, but if your not care full you will pull up stuff on Alister Crowley and his Qabalistic  writings...
Look up these books for starters:

Kabbalah, A Very Short Introduction... By Joseph Dan

The Everything Kabbalah Book: Explore This Mystical Tradition--From Ancient Rituals to Modern Day Practices... By Mark Elber

Essential Kabbalah: The Heart of Jewish Mysticism... By Daniel C. Matt

Kabbalah For Dummies... By Arthur Kurzweil (the "For Dummies" books I find to really help)

Try these sites too...

http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Judaism/kabbalah.html (http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Judaism/kabbalah.html)

There is a start..I hope this helps you.... :-)

Thank you so much! There are five different ways to spell it and that is the 2nd most common and how the Cabalah Research Foundation spelt it. Thank you a whole bunch though for the book list  :-D

Ok just a heads up Dion Fortune's "the Mystical Qabalah" is a great introductory blast to understand this, even though I am still not understanding some things but it has clarified other things.
