Who is your favorite director of all time or if you can't pick one then list your favorites... THEN... explain why they're your favorite directors :-D
I'll start, my top and only favorite director is... Tim Burton :-D
I love his style and creativity, reminds me of me but i would be a bit more psychotic and twisted :-D
I love how he can make goth styles look all festive or just plain scary and dark (not emo pop dark or any of that crap, i mean pure crazy darkness for example sweeney todd :-D )

I can't really say anything about favirote directors, because they all tend to make just one thing I like. I guess maybe Quentin Tarantino would be theclosest to favirote, he has more than one work I enjoy. I like his takeon violence, while mixing in some good story and humor. Tim Burton though, I'm sorry to say, is not even on the list of directors I tolerate. For me he lost his creativity and originality a long time ago. Now all he does is ruin classics.

I agree with you Ravin, but we'll see how long it lasts. I imagine he will eventually fall short on a movie, but I am sad he dropped doing a remake of The Blob. I thought it would be interesting to see.

I saw it, utter dissappointment in my opinion. Everything he does at this point is pretty much an attempt (I say attempt becauseto me he fails at it) at making something people are comfortable with into something darker (not evil, just darker). I'm not saying that its a bad idea, just that the way he does it has becomeso predictable. Its lost what once made it stand out, what once made it shine. Its pretty much gone from creating a work of art to simply pleasing the masses.

He is unafraid of going over the edge way past reason and normal narritive thread structure.
The films are sometimes nearly impossible to decipher yet still work on many different levels. I love his sets, ideas, the visual effects, sound, and just mere brazen freakiness of some of the things he puts together. Insland empire was one of his latest, overly long and a bit indulgent in places but maybe that was part of the challenge.
Peter Greenaway.
Another genius for me. Prosperos books was a masterpiece- an adaptation of Shakespeares Tempest rendered in utter visual and conceptual beauty. Oh the imagination and artistic sense of theatre at work!
'The pillow book' is another feast for the mind. Should be on the TO WATCH LIST for all monstrous members.

well then in that case there isn't a director you like during this time, that's what the entertainment business is all about, not creating art but simply just satisfying the masses within the current trend because if not then their movies wouldn't be popular or ever come out . Hardly anyone ever really sees a film for its true beauty or just how amazing and fascinating it is to see and marvel at the talent of the actors, the story line, set design costume, and everything else that goes with it. Now if a film isn't easy to understand and or if the starring actors in the film don't have a nice rack, butt, or abs then hardly anyone knows of it. films aren't like what they use to be :-(

I think a movie can be popular without being made to please the masses. It about storyline and execution, putting something out that people didn't even know they wanted. And while you are right that almost all movies don't do that these days, there are some. Just like there some directors out there who still create art.

I lately discover Gregg Araki - he is labelled as a gay director but his movies are really a great depiction of the many sufferings that troubled adolescents go through. The Doom Generation is really a must. Only human monsters.

I dont think Zombie is going to crash or burn anytime soon and there are two very good reasons. For one thing, in my opinion his music never did. Every new album was just as good or better than the last. And he isnt in it for the money. He has a true pasion for horror. I believe he would rather lose money to make a great movie than make money to create a bad one, thats probably why he turned down the blob. Just my opinion though, time will tell.

I still would have liked to of seen atleast a trailer for the Blob. As for directors out there still creating art, you have to find them yourself. I've never been good with names unless its someone I'm avoiding, directors or people.

Its not a director but a movie, I have to say I did enjoy Let the Right One In.

Personally, I only liked the first album (White Zombie) and the first movies .... Both Halloween were a great disappointment. I think RZ met his limits ...

I liked the holloween movies, but its a huge chance for anyone to change a character so well known....and loved by many. But the new Mike Meyers sort of..... just felt right, to me. Like a step in the right direction.

I enjoyed the 1st Halloween, never got the chance to see the 2nd one. Still, I do agree that the new Mike Myers felt right. He was a lot more threatening.
