Why is it that Hollywood, or where ever else for that matter, has taken it upon themselves to continually remake remakes.  This is no typo.  Once again, a classic, such as The Blob (starring Steve McQueen) is being remade again.  It had a sequel, Beware! The Blob!, and a remake in 1988 already.  I have never seen the sequel myself but I thoroughly enjoyed both the original and it's clone.  I'm not sure that they could improve on the 80's remake which was rife with FX.....CGI to me just doesn't cut it.

Either way, yet another version is due out some time next year....Bah Humbug.
Death is never certain until you get poked in the eye with a stick.

Phantom Stranger

"The Blob" is one of the most entertaining of the 1950's monster movies. The sequel "Beware! The Blob" (also known as "Son Of The Blob") is a really lousy comedy. I did enjoy the '80's remake, I was very surprised by how good it was. As for another remake....well....I'm not in favor of it, but I have to see what the filmmakers are going to do with the story and FX before I make a final judgement, but I wish Hollywood would get off the remake bandwagon and do some original films again.
I am known in many realms by many names, but those that know me in your world call me the Phantom Stranger.

Quest

The original Blob is a favorite of mine.  The sequel, Son of Blob and the remake didn't entertain me as much as the first film did.

Same here might have been a good thing that I missed this one

Loved the original, some things need to be left alone.... mainly great classics like this
What do you want, you moon-faced assassin of joy?

We walk in the dark places no others will enter. We stand on the bridge and no-one may pass. We live for the One, we die for the One

Quest

Son of Blob was done as a comedy film.  In fact, Larry Hagman has a very small role in it as a hobo victim of the Blob.  This was before his Dallas days of fame.

The story had a group of scientists going to the artic and finding the Blob frozen there.  They chipped off a piece, not knowing what it was and brought it back to the states.  Of course, it escapes and havok ensues.
