Hi, I was wondering if there are any gems or herbs that will help you remember your dreams, or to make them about something you want them to be about.

Mugwort is said to increase dream recall and enhance the dreaming experience however it is quite a mild herb and therefore its effects may be psychosomatic (some don't think so) and the results may vary from person to person. Kava Kava, Valerian root and if you live in Alaska Fireweed also seem to work well but only because they make dreams more vivid and clear, which in turn tends to make them more memorable. I would suggest making a ritual of it, burn herbal incense, drink the tea or leave fresh herbs next to your bed for a month or so.

The 'slow-awakening' technique is also quite effective for trying to recollect dreams. After you wake up lay quietly in bed and don't immediately start thinking and worrying about the day ahead. Try to concentrate your mind on whatever it was that you were just dreaming about - even if at first you can't remember dreaming about anything. When you hit something start to put the events in order, then write them down somewhere. (the last part isn't part of the technique but it's always useful to keep a dream journal and can help further with dream recall and can help you remember more).

When I hear somebody sigh, "Life is hard," I am always tempted to ask, "Compared to what?"

But don't be afraid. And don't forget...
You hold the mightiest weapon of all.
