Anyone here a fan of the classic TV program Dark Shadows?

I am.  Have been for a long, long time.  The show was shown on SciFi Channel for the longest time, but unfortunately haven't been on there in nearly a year.  I'm hoping that the Horror Channel will pick it up.  So far no word on Horror's upcoming schedule.

This is an old post, but since I know something about this, I thought I'd answer it, in case anyone is interested.

Last I heard, the Horror Channel was in contract talks, but I suspect Sci Fi will show it again if not.  DS is too large a draw for them, particularly if the new one (the new new one) ever sees the light of day (so to speak).

Phantom Stranger

One of the best horror shows ever. Hopefully it will make it back to TV one day.
I am known in many realms by many names, but those that know me in your world call me the Phantom Stranger.

DeadHead

Was that the series where the vampire's name was Barneby?

Morticia

#5
Barnabas Collins, played by Jonathan Frid.

I used to come in from school and watch it every afternoon.

He was a vampire who didn't want to be a vampire; lived at an estate in Maine called Collinwood.

He had loved a woman named Angelique, and there was a time in the series where the scenes jumped from back in the 1800's when Barnabas first met her, to a look-a-like in the present day.

They also wrote in a werewolf whose real name was David Something.

If I think about it a while maybe more of it will come back to me.  It's been almost 40 years since I saw it.

Edit: The werewolf was David Selby, the woman playing Angelique was Lara Parker.

Barnabas always had to sleep in his coffin with a bag of dirt from his grave in Maine.  There was a song called "Angelique's Theme", I had in on a 45 but it's long gone.  It sounded like an old music box.  I probably would remember a lot more if I did a search and saw some of the old pics, etc.  It wouldn't surprise me if this show became available on DVD, if it's not already.

There were novels too, based on the series.

DeadHead

OH! I remember that show!!! I was very small, but my mom let me watch it with her. :-D Good stuff.

I just did a very brief Google search on "Dark Shadows".

It sparked a lot of memories, and I noticed that there is a DVD set available.  Four disks for around $59.00.

I wouldn't mind to watch them again, but that's too pricey for me.

I got the first volume which introduces Barnabus Collins, he came
in around episode 210 and that was when the show  became more popular

Hard to believe there was that many episodes before he came around, this
was the only soap opera my mom could get me to watch when I was young.

I acually got so addicted to it (like mom) that I would watch it before I
went out to play (strange but true)

One of the great horror classics IMHO

I am going to get more as time goes by (volumes)
What do you want, you moon-faced assassin of joy?

We walk in the dark places no others will enter. We stand on the bridge and no-one may pass. We live for the One, we die for the One

Quest

I know that the video tapes are a lot less expensive than the DVD's right now.  I would love to get to see the 2004 remake pilot Dan Curtis did for the WB network (unfortunately it didn't sell as a series).
