December 25th and January 1st will feature David Tennant's final two Dr. Who appearances.  From all appearances he will regenerate at the end of the Jan 1 show.

I hate it that he is leaving and from what I heard is considered the most popular Dr now

Hope the new guy is good, got to at least give him a chance, but I still never heard of him

Well the David Tennant  era has come and gone as The Doctor

The last episode the Mrs even watched it and she cried

I will miss him in the role as The Doctor

Im a huge Who fan and I dont see what the big deal is with the new regeneration. Its not the first and wont be the last. My fave Doctor was Tom Baker.

Same here my fav is Baker too

But DT did grow on us, and IMO like Baker, he was brilliant in the role

The Doctor is running low on regenerations though, think they can regen 12 times?

If they get to that point, I am sure they will think of a way to keep him going like the Master

The Doctor is now on his 11th or 12th form, with 10 and a half regenerations. Depending on whether or not you count the half regeneration he did as Tenant last year.

In order he was portrayed by;
William Hartnell
Patrick Troughton
Jon Pertwee
Tom Baker
Peter Davison
Colin Baker
Sylvester McCoy
Paul McGann
Christopher Eccleston
David Tennant (Possibly twice when he used his regeneration to just heal his injuries and not fully regenerate.)
Matt Smith

The Master has had more than 26 forms. Only 6 have been seen onscreen.

Roger Delgado
Peter Pratt and Geoffrey Beevers (Portrayed the same regeneration of the master)
Anthony Ainley
Eric Roberts
Derek Jacobi
John Simm

A timelord has 13 lives. This means 12 regenerations. The Master used all of his up and was on his final form during the time of the 7th Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) but was granted a second regeneration cycle from the time lords during the Time War and was granted a third during the 5 Doctors special which seen the first 5 Doctors (William Hartnell (actualy portrayed by Richard Hurndall due to Hartnells slight case of death), Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker and Peter Davison) being brought together out of the time stream.

The Doctor only has 1 or 2 regenerations depending on whether or not the creators count Tenants regeneration back into Tenant. Chances are the creators will hope no one remembers the 13 lives rule as it was 1996 that the 7th Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) said a timelord has 13 lives. Since most of the current Who fans are children who wouldn't have seen this or live in countries where they havn't seen much of anything before the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) so they can just carry on, or the time lords will offer the Doctor another round of regeneration.

I personally hope they stay true and have the 13th doctor die in the most fantastic fight of his life, surrounded by as many of his old and new companions as possible. Maybe even have a few of his previous carnations there. Most of them are still alive, and it wouldn't be hard to get replacement actors for the deceased.

I have seaons/episodes of every Doctor

I even have Patrick Troughton episodes  8-)

As far as Tom Baker episodes,I am lacking only his last season as the Doctor

I also have other British scifi series, including Blakes 7 (all seasons, 4 of them)

Fatass

The final two were brilliant, in a cheesy sort of a way.

But I can't wait for the next series, with the new Doctor. Stephen Moffat, one of my all-time favourite writers is taking over the series, it's going to be amazing.

And hey, the 13th doctor could get out of dying permanently. It's bloody fantasy for s**t's sake, anything could happen.

markus

I am just hoping Matt Smith will be as good as David Tennant

Having Moffat sticking around is a plus

I have a feeling they will find a way around the "13 lives" bit eventually...or, as was stated, possibly just forget about it entirely.
