Wiccan Traditions
« on: September 17, 2011, 06:01:18 PM »
I have heard of a wiccan tradition called Trinitarian. It supposed to merge christianity and wicca.
Has somebody else?

I have & just did a little refresher research. Trinitarian Wicca is often called Christian Wicca, which are  diffrent. It's an American tradition of Wicca using the christian pantheon & the trinities within it hence the name. Practitioners follow the traditions of the 8 Sabbats, 13 Esbats, Wiccan Rede,  have no belief in original sin, baptism, or any of Church dogma. My impression is that it is a more organic, personal form of christianity focusing on a personal relationship with a higher power.

I think I should bring this up to my Mother, have her do some research into it.

Do they cast circles and perform spells? Also I was wondering what do they put on the altar? A cross instead of the godess and god?

Here are a couple of web sites that can probably answer more questions than I can.

http://www.paganspace.net/group/trinitarianwicca - this site has a lot of very detailed info

http://www.christianwicca.org/ - "official" trinitarian site. More of an ad for the person's book but still good basics.

http://wiccanheathen.blogspot.com/2008/09/trinitarian-wicca-christian-wicca-it.html - general definition of the faith

Teteo- give the site to your mom, I think she might feel a real connection with this path that she may not with "traditional" church-based christianity.

Thanks for the links.

It gave me an overview of this particular "tradition". Guess I have to buy her book to find out more.
