The idea of Godzilla was thought of back in 1954 while an executive from Toho movie studios was on a plane flying back to Tokyo. The executive was a bit depressed as he was not able to secure the visas for the actors in a new movie. The executive picked up his newspaper and read the headlines Japans 2nd Atomic Bombing. As he read this article it was about an incedent that happened at Bikini Island where the USA was conducting an H-Bomb test. The USA told all fishing boats to stay away while tests were being conducted. When the blast went off it nuked a Japanese Fishing Boat the boat was called the Lucky Dragon everyone on board was nuked. The USA and Japan blamed each other for the incedent. Resue boats wer sent out to save the crew. After reading this article in the newspaper the young executive started to write down a few things BOAT H-BOMB DRAGON. When the plane landed the executive went to work and pitched a new movie idea he said how about making a movie about a giant monster that is mutated by radiation and attacks Tokyo. The studio heads loved the idea and thought maybe a giant Octopus could attack Tokyo then they decided to go with a giant radioactive Dinosaur movie idea. This is how the idea of Godzilla originated in march of 1954. The movie was based on a real life incedent that took place at BikiniIsland. The name of the monster was picked by the producer who named the monster after an employee who worked for Toho a Mr Gojira. Mr gojira was pretty big for a Jap and his name Gojira is a combination of 2 words the word Gorira which means Gorilla and the word Kujira which means Whale the 2 words together are Gojira. This is the name producer Tanaka named the monster. by the way the executive who pitched the idea for the movie became the producer Mr Tanaka. Gojira was an international movie success and here in the USA the movie was called Godzilla King of the Monsters. Godzilla King of the Monsters opened in the USA april 27th 1956. Toho studios has made 27 more Godzilla movies 28 Godzilla movies total. Tomoyuki Tanaka produced 22 of them. The movie Godzilla was directed by Ishiro Honda and special effects were done by Eiji Tsuburaya and music by Akira Ifukube. David Nunez Gojira11354
