The discovery of European corpses thousands of miles away suggests a hitherto unknown connection between East and West in the Bronze Age.

Solid as a warrior of the Caledonii tribe, the man's hair is reddish brown flecked with grey, framing high cheekbones, a long nose, full lips and a ginger beard. When he lived three thousand years ago, he stood six feet tall, and was buried wearing a red twill tunic and tartan leggings. He looks like a Bronze Age European. In fact, he's every inch a Celt. Even his DNA says so.

But this is no early Celt from central Scotland. This is the mummified corpse of Cherchen Man, unearthed from the scorched sands of the Taklamakan Desert in the far-flung region of Xinjiang in western China, and now housed in a new museum in the provincial capital of Urumqi. In the language spoken by the local Uighur people in Xinjiang, "Taklamakan" means: "You come in and never come out."

so the question we have now is that how he did he got that far east? this is, for us, an archaeological anomaly

Ah, the Celts...My favorite of the ancient people of this Earth. So widespread, and so powerful.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that a Gael or Pict could have found their way that far across the world. Their cultures placed quite a bit of value on men who were willing to do insane stuff for basically no reason, and what would be more risky than living a solitary life and travelling across the known world?

I wouldn't go so far as to say, "archaeological anomaly" Vince... I mean, take a look... all throughout history there are great travelers and conquerors... Is it hard to believe even a solitary man could go near unimaginable distances for his day?

you have a point there and no, a solitary man venturing out isn't imaginary but what drive him to go the distance is a better question here and most of the travelers and conquerors in history aren't solitary

The famous red haired mummies of Xinjiang have identified as speakers of Torcharian, a long since extinct Indo-European language. It is believed that the surviving speakers of this language were assimilated into the currently existing Uighur tribe which is now seen as the native population of  Xinjaing.

After doing some research on it, yeah, it makes more sense for them to be Tocharian than Caledonii Picts.
Really, though, that brings up another question...Why did an Indo-European tribe settle in a place so far removed from the other places that were populated predominantly by Indo-Aryans?

Hmm, that's a tough  one. It's possible that they could have been displaced by war in their own lands and thus sought refuge in lands that were beyond the reach of their traditional foes. Or maybe they were a community that were interested in opening trading links with the powerful and advanced civilization of the Chinese and so chose to settle in lands close to the fringes of the Chinese relam? We'll never know I guess.

It wasn't a celtic person I am sorry to say it was an interesting idea though. In ancient asia expecially on the islands like Japan the people had red hair. It wasn't until the mongolian distinctive group came through. Some areas like in India had an indo-european group come through that is why we have sandscrit today. The people of asian red haired people pretty much died out we are not sure if they died because of disease or neighboring tribes.
