Black hole rips star apart

Just yesterday I read, about a few hundred billion light-years away, a star was being completely devoured by a monsterous black hole. Sadly I lost the artical
But if anyone else finds it again then that's great ^^. Anyway I found another article from 2004, where a similar thing is happened:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/space/02/18/shc.blackhole.star/
=/ Do you think this could happen to our sun in any lifetime?

It is doubtful. There aren't any close enough to us to do that before our sun goes nova on us.
