Something happened to me about a week ago. Rather than post right away as an incoherent OHMAHGAWD GHOSTDEMONTHING!!!1! rant, I thought about it and well, I'm not sure what exactly it was. But I am open to whatever anyone has to say on it. Especially any that may have had similar experiences. If you have experience with psychology your opinion is also welcomed. Gladly.

And before my mental state comes into question, aside from a lack of attention span I have a clean bill of health. So does my family at least that I know of. I am not on medication that has hallucinogenic side affects either. I rarely even take pain medicines. I have however been in a slightly less than happy mood. I would not say depressed but life just sucks sometimes. Everyone goes through bad days.



At my unit we had recently updated our wills and set things up in case of our demise, so that may link to the event.


Now, to the event in question.
 
I woke hearing my younger brother in the neighboring room, (Who I take care of as his mother can't. Smoking did horrid things to her) screaming and crying about a ghost. I got out of bed and looked at the clock. It was about two in the morning. First I got him calmed down and back to sleep then went around the house to see if either of my two cats had caused any of the commotion by scaring him with their running or well, anything else cats tend to do at those ungodly hours of the morning. I found a plant knocked over, and so figured that was probably all that happened. The cats knocked it over and scared him. Thus I disregarded the event and went back to bed.
 
I got settled into bed then looked towards my door trying to remember if I'd locked it or not. I saw a transparent flash then caught a view of something glowing before looking over at myself laying in my bed. Needless to say this freaked me out and I immediately fought to get control back as it had felt as though I had been forced from my body. I remember saying 'Leave, evil spirit' just before being able to sit up.



In the  corner opposite of the door, I saw a tall figure. The entire form was transparent but just visable enough to catch a vague outline. It had a human skull for a face but since my knowledge of anatomy isn't that sharp I couldn't tell if it was male or female. I know there's a way to tell by skulls and such but I digress...



Beneath the skull, it had a narrow skeletal neck, broad but very slanted shoulders, anything else was covered by some sort of long cloak. The figure stood tall enough to seem to almost brush against the ceiling.



Since there is nothing I saw to hint at inhuman anatomy I am left to suppose this was a ghost and not a demon. I will admit though my knowledge of demons is... lacking. I've never dealt with the subject or beings of that nature nor had much interest in doing so.



Well, there it is. Please. Don't say things to purposely degrade me or this... situation.

  Any temperature changes?

  Were there any sounds, if so what kind.

  How long did you observe the apparition?

  Did you actually see your cats, if so what were their behaviors?

  How old is the house?

  Has a blessing ever been performed in the house?

  How old is your brother.

  Was any electronic device malfunctioning or even operatable?

  We shall start with these questions and move on from there.

I do recall the room being cold but since I like sleeping in a cold room I didn't pay it much mind. I often leave the heat off in my room even during winter here in Wyoming. So if the temperature dropped I didn't and probably wouldn't have noticed.
 
Aside from me speaking there were no noises. The figure didn't speak. Just sort of glanced over. I've never seen it before nor since.
 
I saw it for only perhaps... three seconds. About as long as the 25 meter target is up on the pop-up range. Three to five seconds.



My cats will chase each other around the house, occasionally causing damage. They were the doom of my aloe plant. Being both males, the will also get a bit territorial. At these times I put them in separate rooms until the quit growling.



Loki is the lazy cat, though he didn't quite recover from breaking his leg somehow, but Fred is the younger, hyper and sometimes downright fickle one that is the cause of most of the trouble.



I saw them fleeing from the broken flowerpot.



The house I live in was built in the late 50's or 60's I believe so they're not too terribly old. Nor is it on old Indian land/ burial areas.



A blessing was done once a few years ago but from my memory it wasn't very thorough.



My brother is eleven.



As far as electronics, everything had already been shut down for the night and at the time the figure appeared I had the lights off and was preparing to go to sleep, so I couldn't really say they were or would have.

even if what you saw was real, and I'm not saying it is, if he/she isn't coming back you shouldn't worry, maybe he/she was just passing through?
one last question, which side of the room was this figure? the side of ur little borthers room? or the opposite side?

The figure entered from the left side and left through the right. My little brother's room is to my left but that's as much of my home's layout I'm willing to disclose.

It not showing his or her (or its) skull around in future days or nights would be good news but I'm probably going to look into forms of protection against such future encounters, as the figure didn't exactly give off friendly 'vibes'. That and I don't exactly like being woken up at two or three when work is in just a few hours. That was not a fun day.

Like my subconscious making its own monsters? I've considered that as well.

I heard somewhere, a theory on some poltergeist incidents where it was the result not of an angry spirit but stress and negative feelings, the persons own internal demons manifesting and tormenting the person these thoughts come from. Is that what you mean by 'thoughtform' Ladygriffin?

Poltergeists are thought to be a mix of things. The two things they always have in common though are high emotions and kids. If the entity comes back just give it a telling off. Something along the lines of "This isn't funny. You are scaring an innocent boy. Now stop this and I have no problem sharing my home with you." and you may even find the creature becomes helpful. If this fails a medium can solve your problem.

personally I think poltergeists are BS!
I'm not saying there aren't ghosts that randsack homes and such, but I for one know that most cases aren't real paranormal doings...
Loads of them happen during sleepwalking or amnesia, they accidently break stuff themselves but can't rember any of it...
But then again, this might be caused of some being messing with them so I guess that brings us back to where we started.
Now what I said is my own beliefs, I'm an openminded person so if you can give me actual proof they exist feel free to share, I'm known to accept I'm wrong if proven so

Also, I don't really think ghosts make a habit out of randsacking places, since their link to this world is very weak to maintain, this is why you don't see ghost for all too long in most cases, it's hard for them to be actually able to move themselves here so I doubt real ghost would abuse their energy to destroy property.
I'm saying this because as far as I know ghost are spirits that stayed behind because they were not ready to leave just yet, mostly because they feel they have unfinished business.

I'm a special case, I can feel prescences, but I know of people who tell me they saw a ghost do something, but once I get there, there isn't a trace of spiritual energy that seems to be out of place. I have to add, every case where people said this is when they had a hard time sleeping and it was dark and we all know what our mind can do when we're tired and when it's dark...

Most cases those people have pets like a cat or a dog... other case still remained a mystery to me, perhaps sleepwalking, not sure.
I can't see ghosts, but I can sense spiritual energy around me.

One more point I want to make is why I asked where you saw the ghost:
If he came from ur brothers room than we can say there actualy was a ghost, I'm unknown for what reasons he was there, perhaps like said before because you changed your wills, but the fact he came from your brothers room through yours and be off again really makes me think he was just passing through.

Another question that might clear some fog is: when you looked at him, did he look back? or did he ignore you? if he looked back, what expression did he have? or did he just look and went on with his business?

Most sighting of ghosts aren't things to worry about, if you just see them passing through you usualy never see them again...

But the last thing I want to say is to actually, if they don't agree with me, take muerte's and angelus' words to be more reliable, since they have way more experience on that field...

The only reason I don't tend to question people who say they "know what they saw" is because I have seen a full manifestation, only once, and all the explanations were there. It was dark, I had just woken up that minute, I was young but.... I know what I saw! Even with all those explanations, darkness, sleepiness and a childs imagination can't make a human being magically appear as clear as the nose on my face. People will argue with that but any rational person can tell the difference between an illusion and reality.

OK. Lex it is. You are right. 99.999999999999999999999% of hauntings are BS. Usually explained by easy means. That's just human nature. Something freaky happens the brain produces the scariest situation, or if you already believe in the supernatural some people will automatically jump to it, generally because they have spent time trying to find evidence of the supernatural and now have something that could be. But if someone tells me they saw something, I will always listen to what they have to say. I trust in the person to have enough common sense of there own to have eradicated other possibilities.

but I'm somewhat the guy which tells them what it could have been to make them think about what they saw, if by then, they are still convinced it's real I'm willing to believe them^^
I just find it a good thing to second guess things just to be sure

One more point I want to make is why I asked where you saw the ghost:

I apologize for my absence. The computer is being uncooperative internet-wise. The figure did look over at me. As it had a skull and not a fleshy looking face there was no expression in that way but it tipped its skull in a way that made it look like it was glaring at me.

And yes. Most things at my house can be blamed on my cats rather than anything supernatural. It's just common sense. Not EVERY weird noise or bump in the night is because of monsters under your bed. That would just be silly to think that all spirits want to do is waste energy messing with the living. There may be some that do, just as people may do the same. Most likely float about minding their own business.

If that is the case maybe the feeling of being forced from your body was a defense mechanism from it?

It may well have been just as startled by your cats, just as shocked to have startled your Brother and indeed then being seen by yourself. It cant have been the best of nights for the apparition either by the sounds of it!
